Arm them with courage….to protect themselves….

Every other day, we keep hearing and reading about crime against women on rise. We get angry and start saying , “ Kill those men who do such things, hang them and so on and so forth….But why don’t we actually initiate a few steps towards implementing such things, I don’t see any harm in a women retaliating with a good punch on someone’s face and may one step ahead, break his arms or legs when a guy tries out untoward advances.Recently there was an incident in Barasat,West Bengal, wherein a young girl was teased on a valentines day by a bunch of drunkard hooligans, who in the end beat up and murdered the girls younger brother who tried resisting their attempts. The girl went around crying for help only to be turned down by the so called protectors of the public,a group of 4 to 5 armed police personnel turned out with deaf ears to the girls plea!!not to generalize anything this just reflects the state of affairs in our system.Unlike in west the kids are taught at their very young age, self defence skills.Women don’t need sympathy, well they just need support in their pursuit to self defence. On the contrary on 9 out of 10 instances, the girl is advised to keep mum and ignore the crimes out of fear of retaliation.
They have the right to retaliate if provoked, for that matter any being in the universe has….Watch out for more news in future…not about crime against women, but about retaliation from those affected.

When you are down....tell yourself "I AM THE BEST"

Yes if you try hard it’s possible, it’s possible to keep your head cool in even the gravest situations. With time, with every passing day we realize that the most successful people are those who are not brilliant or exceptional, but those who had learnt to make the right kind of adjustments. We see this happening in our personal and professional life every single day. The biggest challenge is to differentiate our emotional conflicts from the outside world, the more we tend to succumb to attachments in any form, the misery level rises. Maybe it our personal relationships or professional relationships. We always come across people who sometimes might criticize and pin us down, but deep within somewhere they would always have that secret admiration for our work and contribution. It’s very important to influence ourselves and our surroundings with high level of positive energy that there would never be any scope to feel down and unhappy. One of the biggest blow a kid could every face is the separation of its parents, infact this could be more hurting than even losing them by death. For someone deeply in love with someone, the biggest heartbreak could be his partner ditching him/her. When I passed out from school, I felt so bad about myself that I could not get through my medical entrance; I always dreamt of becoming a cardiac surgeon, well certain things just elude you and one should learn to take it in strides. One could argue, that if I was so determined about becoming a cardiac surgeon, I should have gone all out to realize that goal, but it’s truly very hard to post mortem the past and analyze the reasons for the outcome.Neverthless I am so indebted to that Divine Grace that I could come out of my debacle so convincingly within a fraction of time and got an opportunity to become an Optometrist and today I have this opportunity to render my services with particular focus on Low Vision, Visual Rehabilitation and active contribution to Optometric education in Eastern India. I have two options, either I keep regretting that I could not become a Cardiac Surgeon or concentrate in working towards achieving the status of an individual who is not just efficient but also effective.

Today I would say this anywhere, anytime and any number of times, “I AM PROUD TO BE AN OPTOMETRIST” and if I ever have a birth again may I be given this gift of gifting humanity their priceless gift, “VISION”
